Paper crafting kits make it convenient to create quick projects because they come with papers, coordinating embellishments and generally instructions. But you don’t have to stick to the directions. Expand your creativity and add in your own stash to create even more beautiful cards. When I received June’s Paper Pumpkin, I loved the colors and the two card designs. But unless it is for a special purpose, I usually don’t like making multiples of the same card. So I used the supplies from the Paper Pumpkin kit and added in some more papers and stamps from the Broadway Bound suite and came up wait several variations. Remember I picked this suite as one of my favorites in THIS POST?
Today I will show you some alternate projects to expand you creativity with the lemon lime twist card provided in the Paper Pumpkin kit. I will show you a variety of the black and white striped cards in the July newsletter. Make sure you are subscribed!
Here are the two projects in the June Paper Pumpkin kit called Broadway Star. So colorful, and love the matching envelopes!
And here are all the supplies that come with the kit. Yes, the stamp and ink spot are also included. I am starting to collect quite the assortment of colors of ink spots from my Paper Pumpkin kits!
This kit has plenty of material to work with. Want to see what I came up with in one afternoon? Let’s see.
What I Used
Besides the contents of the Paper Pumpkin Broadway Star kit, I used the following supplies to expand my creativity.
Adding Coordinating Supplies to Expand Your Creativity
First I made oneand included directions only. The lovely lipstick piece and white banner are stickers which made it extra convenient.
The second card uses the lemon lime twist card base, die cut marquee, lovely lipstick ink, balloon stickers, pearls, dimensionals,, sequins, and gold and black thread from the kit. To this, I added the basic black mat for the gold foiled numbers paper from the Broadway Bound Specialty DSP. The stamped sentiments are from the Broadway Birthday stamps. The lemon lime twist ink is from my stash.
Funny story – when Lemon Lime Twist was first introduced I turned up my nose and “ewwwed” right out loud. Well you can tell from many of my posts that I have definitely changes my mind about this color. It combines well with a surprising array of colors and gives a pop of color to just about any neutral.
A Transparent Window Card
For my third card, I added a transparent window on the front. This was very difficult to photograph and show the transparency, but it is a fun way to add a little unexpected detail to your cards. This card uses the card base (cut), Hooray sticker, pink sticker, cakes and candles from the kit. I added in the black card base, clear window sheet, sentiment from Peaceful Place and Memento black ink. The kit’s card base was trimmed to 4″ x 5.25″ for the inside of the card, and the lovely lipstick sticker was cut to fit the bottom panel of the front. The clear window is in the middle of the front. Extra from the pink sticker was stamped with the sentiment.
A z-fold card is my last (for today) alternate project. The kit supplied the white banner sticker, hooray sticker, balloons, black and white card, lemon lime card, sentiment and stars stamp, and black-gold thread. I dug into my stash for the lovely lipstick cardstock, die to cut the marquee (it’s a little bigger than the one included in the kit)
First, I cut a piece of lovely lipstick CS to 4.25″ x 11″ and scored at 2.75″ and 5.5″. Then I folded it into the z-fold card base.
After stamping the retro stars in pink and green onto the white banner sticker, I tied a bow around the top of it and attached to the front panel. Next I trimmed the striped card front to 4″ x 5.25″, and made the other panel for the front with the green card matted onto black CS.
Finally, I decorated the card, stamping the inside sentiment onto a strip of lovely lipstick.
