For this week’s first project, I featured liquid watercolor over heat embossed images. This choice was inspired by the Paper Craft Crew Challenge #298. Also, I had an ulterior motive since I just received the new set of 12 Pink Fresh liquid watercolors and couldn’t wait to play with them.

Liquid Watercolor Over Heat Embossed Images Process
STAMP: Begin by stamping the flowers and leaves with VersaMark onto the watercolor paper. Sprinkle with silver embossing powder and use a heat gun to melt the embossing powder. As you can see, I stamped and embossed more images than I actually used on the card front. I ended up using the extras to finish the inside of my card.
PAINT: Spritz a wee bit of water over the flowers and petals to dampen the watercolor paper slightly. Use the dropper tops of the watercolor paints to add paint directly to your images, adding water as need to have your colors blend and flow as you want. A little dab of color is all that is needed; it is very vibrant and concentrated!
Use a brush to help move the paint and water along as needed, and/or a paper towel to soak up the extra,
PREPARE THE PIECES: Once the watercolor paper has dried, fussy cut the images out. One of the reasons I selected these stamps was because of the ease of cutting since I didn’t have the matching dies (and I haven’t figured out my Scan ‘n’ Cut yet).
Make an A2 card base from Soft Sea Foam and a slightly smaller panel from So Saffron.
Cut a 2.5″ square from the DSP and stamp the sentiment from Enjoy Life.
Select a piece of the Delightfully Detailed Laser Cut DSP and make a mat for the sentiment paper.
Assemble the Card
Adhere the So Saffron panel to the card base, followed by the laser cut piece using double sided tape. Place a strip or two of washi across the card toward the bottom of the laser cut piece.
Using dimensionals, add the sentiment square, and then the flower and leaves.
Finally, glue on a few bubbles to accent your design. Finished!
I loved playing with these watercolors. They are extremely vibrant, which I love, but I need to play with them some more to get the effect I want because of their intense pigment. It’s a tough job, but somebody’s got to do it, right?
